INT. HOUSE - MIDDAY
The room is dark and dusty, the old potter, IDO, sits at his desk, face in hand staring at a half finished Kantharos vase.

Bread crumbs cover his desk from a previous meal, the floor is strewn with broken pots and his bed is unmade and dishevelled.

There is a loud bang as the door swings open, a large wealthy patrician, AMOS, fills the doorway.

AMOS
Ido! I need a vase

IDO
What kind?

AMOS scans the room his eyes settling on the Kantharos vase and he points with authority
AMOS
That vase. But with me on
the front eh?

AMOS strikes an exaggerated pose IDO’s eyes are distant as he stares through the vase in front of him

AMOS
If you can’t I’ll find a
potter to live here who can

IDO
(Shakes and nods his head)
No, I-i-i can do it

IDO closes his eyes, the unfinished Kantharos vase sits on the desk

She begins to form a vase but it collapses in on itself and she laughs. IDO smiles behind her and reaches round.

Their hands together form a shape on the wheel

Lavish curtains cover the walls. A platter of grapes and bread is spread across a table and we can hear AMOS talking as the Kantharos comes into view, silhouette of AMOS is painted on the side

AMOS
… and that was how I defeated
the Great Tobius, saving each
of your miserable lives! So in
my honour I toast that we may
continue to live as kings!

AMOS’s hand reaches for the vase and grasps the handles. He holds the vase to his lips and drinks its contents, wine slipping down his chins.
Finishing the wine AMOS lets out a sigh and throws the vase.
It falls in slow motion to the ground and shatters into pieces. IDO is beside it broken pieces in his hands.
IDO’s face is shocked and distraught, until one piece stands out to him, it still holds the silhouette of AMOS.
We end on IDO’s face as he smiles to himself and closes his eyes.

BDM125 Five Stages of Grief

I am researching the five stages of grief that IDO will go through with the death of his wife, so far he experiences denial, anger, and depression. The end of the animation will be Ido's acceptance stage.
