Chris Landreth- The End

After watching Ryan from Chris Landreth I have explored him a bit further as an animator. He comes up regularly in animation books as an influential artist of the trade. The End was created in 1995 while Landreth worked with Alias and the new Maya updates, he had access to state of the art software as it was being released. For a 90's animation I think this is pretty well done. What I found more interesting was the ideas that Landreth managed to portray. In a short six minute animation he was able to tap into some of our most sensitive insecurities, he also gives an insight into the life of an animator and the struggle to continue creating new and exciting story lines that capture the intended audience.

Interview with Ryan Larkin

I came across this interview while working on an essay, I am very impressed with the artists use of animation to convey emotions and the insecurities of both the author, Chris Landreth and Ryan Larkin. The animation was both an inspiration and a caution towards the artistic industry and the cost animators make to follow their visions of art.

Walk Cycle References

Animation Review: Jungle Jail

Director: Stepaschka
Producer: Stepaschka
Studio: Esma Movies
Awards: 2nd Aniboom Annual awards (2007)

I stumbled across this short film while looking for walk cycle references. I liked the charismatic way the animation was portrayed with the main characters emotions transferring well into the dynamic shots. The music was also chosen well adding to the feel of the movie.  I really like this animation as it has the right amount of character appeal and a compelling story line that keeps the audience interested. The walk of the main character also changed a lot throughout the animation with a scared shuffle at the beginning transferring to the cocky strut as he began to become more and more power hungry.
