BDM126 Story Worksheet

Genre:
Drama
Protagonist:
Ido- Greek Potter
Katharos Vase- artist unknown
Goal:
Make a Amphora Kantharos Vase for a notable patrician (name to be decided)
Why?
He needs money for food, it is also an emotional journey for him, he has not made a Kantharos in some time
Antagonist:
The Patrician and Idos own self-doubts
Antagonist Goal:
The Patrician wants the best vase ever made to demonstarte his wealth and superiority over others in his class
Course of action for antagonist:
He will be a difficult customer for Ido, never settling for anything substandard
Why?
As a Greek patrician it was common for there to be a competition in demonstrating their power and importance 
What does Protagonist want? 
Ido just wants to create vases, this is his life and he loves his craft.
What does he need to learn? Conflict? 
He must overcome the emotional ties attached to the Kantharos vase. To the patrician it is just a vase to demonstrate his own wealth, but for Ido it will signify an important journey of acceptance
What will the protagonist do? 
He will make a perfect vase

Working Title: Ido 
Genre: Historical Drama 
Date: 4/3/15

Opening Image:
Ido's house, small bed and a collection of pots. A dusty lyre sits in the corner of a messy desk. There is one slice of bread left and a few crumbs scattered.
Theme Stated: 

Set-up:
Ido eats the last piece of bread, it is hard and stale like it was sitting for a long time
Catalyst:
The Patrician approaches Ido to dicuss the making of a new vase
Debate:
He points to a half made Kantharos vase that is sitting on Ido's desk 
Act-two Plot Point:
Ido stares at the vase distantly and his stomach grumbles, he accepts the Patricians terms and agrees to make him a Kantharos vase 
B-Story:
Flashback of a women painting the half finished Kantharos 
Fun and Games:
Ido begins to make the vase, he has trouble forming the shape on his wheel
Midpoint: 
He finally makes an acceptable vase and spends the night painting it
Bad Guys close in:
The patrician returns but is not satisfied, he wants to change the pose on the vase and to make it bigger
All is Lost: 
Ido begins again,but with even less motivation he cannot shake the thought of his wife from his mind
Dark Night of the Soul:
He is up at night again and cannot form the vase 
Act Three Plot Point: 
We have another flashback (Ghost style) of Ido and his wife forming the vase together on the wheel. he steels his resolve and begins to work

Finale: 
Ido is the guest of honour at the patricians symposium (a very rare occurrence) The vase is on a pestle and patrician makes a toast to himself. He downs the wine from Ido's vase and in a moment of gusto smashes the vase on the ground. Shattering it to pieces.
Final Image:
Ido's face is calm, his eye twitches and the credits role.
